Go To The Sun

So, you’re thinking about doing nothing, reading, lying about a pool while pleasant aproned people have you sign for drinks. You just want to relax, get some sun, maybe go to the beach, maybe not, snorkel, booze cruise, gamble, night life, or not. If you are sick of snow go the Bahamas.

I had seen the ads for the Bahama Princess Resort and Casino a thousand times but had avoided the pitch for fear the deal was too good. then one day I needed to just get away with no hassles, no sorting out the airport/hotel logistics, no lost luggage, and especially no flying through half a dozen airports and connections. I did want to lie around a pool, be served well, and not spend a fortune. I went Princess.

First of all you fly direct from Richmond. then you find out that the trip is a turn-key deal. Your luggage is dropped at the ticket counter, put on the resort plane, to their taxis, and to your rom. No hassle.

When you wish to eat, you can hack about the sea of restaurants in the resort or stroll fro two minutes to the international market and find a large selection there. If you no need a cab for somewhere call Elgin Mitchell, cab #80, at 809-352-9661 ext. 4358 and be picked up in a limo for no extra money. You will find the world of island activities available to you to take or leave and the Princess concierge is your one stop source for information and scheduling.

The rooms in the hotel are nice, everyone is very friendly and the lobby bands’ rendition of Girl From Ipenema is fascinating. The casino staff was helpful enough to guide my $6 to $300 on the craps table by imparting useful wisdom.

I think my favorite feature is the swim-up bars for easy cocktails There really is nothing more relaxing than jumping in a pool and floating to a bartender after a long morning of doing nothing. Then you can even take your drink up to the huge grottoed hot tub.

The thing is that for a hassle free three, four, or seven day trip to the Bahamas, the Princess provides you with a decent price, good service, and as much or as little activity you require. There are no hidden strings or surprises and your travel agent can book it for you. The prices fluctuate for different seasons and specials so call and at least get the info- it should be in everyone’s file.

The least expensive way to get the trip right now is to call the Jackson-Feild Home office at 343-3304 and buy a $5 ticket for a special drawing benefiting Jackson-Feild. A Bahamas Princess trip is the grand prize. The drawing is at Tredegar Saturday night January 27th during the fundraising party. So go the party (only $35, all inclusive) and try to win a good trip.

You mustn’t actually be there to win but it’ll be more fun.
